Re: High School
Please be sure that your high school players are clear on their eligibility rules this is not meant to be a comprehensive email on high school eligibility!
As a U14 or older team, you have 'high school aged team' restrictions. Essentially players may not participate in club team activities during their high school season.
I have received several concerned emails because we have scheduled league games on the weekend of Nov 16/17. Most of us remember that high school restrictions start Nov 15th. However the high school calendar does change from year to year, and it is later this year.
Most (90+%) of our CCSL Coast and Bay Region teams have high schools affiliated with the CCS (Central Coast Section) of CIF. CCS publishes dates for each sport. For Winter 2014 sports the first allowable practice date is Nov 4th. The first allowable scrimmage date is Nov 23. Players may not participate in club team activities after Nov 22 without risking their high school eligibility. This means the Nov 16/17weekend is fine for league games. Nov 23/24 is too, games are not scheduled for that date, but it may be used as a rain out date if necessary.
I am aware that some few high school coaches make it difficult for players to participate in club soccer after the first allowable practice date. They are not supposed to do this, however if you are aware that this is a problem in your area you can work with your opponent to reschedule your last game to an earlier date.
Other dates of interest for older teams include
SAT testing - Oct 5 and Nov 3. We have not scheduled games for U16 and older teams on SAT dates
ACT Testing - Sept 21 and Oct 26. Games are scheduled on these dates. Testing finishes mid day, so schedule games for late afternoon if you have players taking this test..
PSAT Testing - Oct 16 and Oct 19th - No games are scheduled on Oct 19th, this is also the D2 Cup weekend for U15 - 19. Encourage your players to take the test on the Wednesday date!
I hope that helps. Have your players contact their high school coaching staff if they have questions

CCSL Coast Section and Region Fall 2013 schedules are now final and you may begin to add game times and locations to the games. It is important that your teams understand your preferred process for updating the website.
Please note that match information was changing in some brackets right up to moments ago. If you elected to work on your club schedule in the preliminary form you will have to check very carefully for changes.
In addition please do take travel time into account when scheduling matches. Clubs and teams shall consider travel time for visiting teams when creating schedules; teams shall not be expected to depart prior to 7:00amto arrive thirty (30) minutes in advance of game time (e.g., a team that has a two (2) hour travel time to a game should not be scheduled prior to 9:30am (e.g., depart at 7:00am to arrive at 9:00am for a 9:30am game).
Things to check as you begin - Are all your fields added to GotSoccer? Are all your teams affiliated with your Club? it's much easier to fix these common challenges sooner than later!
We do have some 'how to' information on working with Match scheduling in GotSoccer. If you need some assistance please do not hesitate to ask!
The email sent to teams is copied below, it contains a general outline of the scheduling parameters we use.

We have scheduled about 5,000 games. During the last couple of days we received feedback and commentary that should have been received much earlier in the process. The changes made over the last couple of days were extensive in some areas and although every effort (and then some!) was made to avoid errors it's entirely possible one or two slipped through.
CCSL is a Saturday and Sunday game day league. We have significant numbers of clubs that have only Saturday fields and an equally significant number of clubs that have only Sunday fields. The League balances the home game schedule to the home club field availability. This is not a perfect fit and if a home club requests a reschedule because fields are not available on the scheduled day, the visiting team must work with the home team to find a mutually agreeable date to play the game.
In addition we avoid the September tournament weekend and October tournament weekend for as many brackets as possible. However the percentage of teams actually playing in a tournament that weekend is quite small so we do use it if needed for the calendar. If your team is entered into a weekend tournament and has games scheduled that weekend, please contact your opponent to find a mutually agreeable date to reschedule to. The opponent must work with you.
We do not schedule games on the District II Cup weekends for the age group in District Cup. The percentage of teams playing in that tournament on that weekend is very large. However if you and your opponent wish to use that weekend for a reschedule you are welcome too.
Reschedule requests for matters of convenience should be avoided. Teams are expected to have more than one registered adult who can run a game and be able to play on any given weekend.
We have 67 clubs in this section of CCSL. Each club will have it's own process for scheduling games. Be sure to get your instructions from your club to ensure you know how to schedule your games, some clubs enter the games into GotSoccer, some give teams that responsibility. A home team/Club is responsible for entering the field and time for a match. A home team/club may NEVER change the date of a match without written confirmation from the opponent.
Matches for the first weekend, September 7/8 should be scheduled ASAP. Matches should be scheduled as far ahead of the date as possible, ideally at least 2 weeks. Match information must be posted a minimum of 7 days before the play date.
