~Congratulations – once again we extend our congratulations to the Mission United U16 Girls and the Mission Bay City U14 Boys for making it to the final match in the President’s Cup Regionals last week-end!
~MYSL Summer League
-Teams must be ready for check in at LEAST 20 minutes prior to the match so that matches can start on time.
-There should be 6 players and one goal keeper one the field for these 7 v 7 matches
-All other rules are the same as 11 v 11
-If one team is ahead by 6 or more goals, coaches must work with their players to keep the score under control. Some suggestions are: Work on their passing, and tell them they can only shoot after 10 consecutive passes; Tell players they can only shoot with their opposite foot; Tell players they can only have ONE touch on the ball, so if they don’t pass or shoot with on their first touch, they have to leave the ball; Take one player out and play with 5 on the field and one in goals; Tell them they can only score on headers. Part of the goal of summer league is to develop players that are U6 to U11. The competition isn’t always balanced, but coaches can ehlp create balance by trying some of these methods.
